Navigating the Kempner

The Kempner Institute is an interdisciplinary initiative of the Provost’s Office, and is not housed in any one school or department within Harvard. The Kempner, like all the cross-school initiatives administered through the Provost’s office, is also sometimes referred to as an “interfaculty initiative,” has substantial faculty involvement from multiple Harvard schools and departments, and reports directly to the provost.
Our leadership
The Kempner institute is led by two faculty co-directors, Sham Kakade and Bernardo Sabatini, and an executive director, Elise Porter. In addition, the institute is guided by a faculty steering committee and scientific advisory board, who help guide the direction of the institute.
Administrative team
The Kempner Institute organizational structure includes teams dedicated to education, compute, finance, communications and other administrative roles to keep the institute running smoothly.The Kempner administrative team is here to support all aspects of the Kempner community.
