Shubham Choudhary is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in electrical engineering at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University, under the guidance of Professor Demba Ba. His research lies at the intersection of machine learning and computational neuroscience, and he feels fortunate to receive generous support for his research through the Kempner Graduate Fellowship. In his free time, Choudhary enjoys comedy, trying to acquire new skills, and getting a good night’s sleep.

Research Focus

Choudhary’s current research focuses on representation learning and mechanistic models. He is broadly interested in understanding the structure of learnt representations in artificial and biological networks with the goal of unlocking mechanisms that generate these representations. Currently, his focus has been to explore how representations learnt by generative approaches can be encoded satisfying biological constraints. To address these questions, he draws on insights gained from optimization methods, computational neuroscience, statistical physics, and deep learning.
