Faculty Roles
The Kempner Institute appoints tenure-track professors to lead innovative research programs in the study of natural and artificial intelligence, and also offers opportunities for faculty to engage as associate or affiliate faculty members.
Institute Investigators
In addition to an academic appointment within their given department, core faculty are appointed as Kempner Institute Investigators.
There are no open Institute Investigator positions at this time.
Associate Faculty
Associate faculty collaborate with other Institute members to advance research, make fundamental discoveries, and teach others.
The 2026-27 application cycle for associate faculty is now closed.
Affiliate Faculty
We welcome affiliate faculty applications from Harvard faculty members who would like to engage more concretely with the Kempner Institute.
Affiliate faculty applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
