About
Chanwoo Chun is a postdoctoral affiliate at SueYeon Chung’s group. He obtained his B.S. from Cornell University and Ph.D. from Weill Cornell Medicine, advised by Daniel D. Lee, where he focused on theoretical neuroscience and machine learning. He also previously worked at Duke University as a researcher at a neuroscience lab.
Research Focus
Chanwoo’s research interest is in understanding why the state-of-the-art machine learning methods underperform the human brain in compositional generalization and hierarchical planning. He aims to characterize the optimal representation geometry for those two tasks by analyzing both artificial and biological neural network data.
