About
William (Billy) Qian is a PhD student in the biophysics graduate program. Prior to graduate school, he studied physics and computer science at the University of Pennsylvania and also spent a year in industry as a machine learning engineer at PathAI. In his free time, Qian enjoys climbing and playing chess.
Research Focus
Qian’s current research focuses on computational neuroscience and machine learning. He is broadly interested in the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive processes such as learning and memory, as well as how biological principles may inform the design of more performant machine learning methods.
