Educational Content & Curriculum Developer – NeuroAI (Part-time, LHT)
The Kempner Institute seeks to understand the basis of intelligence in natural and artificial systems. The Kempner brings together researchers across a variety of fields – including computer science, neuroscience, applied mathematics, cognitive science and engineering – to explore the mechanisms and representations that underlie intelligent behavior.
To support this mission, the Educational Content and Curriculum Developer will help design, and implement innovative learning experiences at the intersection of neuroscience and artificial intelligence. This role will collaborate closely with faculty, researchers, and students to create high-quality educational materials, courses, and content that enhances learning and engagement for a variety of learners.
Ideal candidates will bring a passion for education, experience in curriculum development and instructional design, and a deep interest in the study of intelligence. They should be comfortable taking initiative and moving projects forward independently, while also enjoying the energy of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team. We are looking for someone who is thoughtful, organized, collegial, and enthusiastic about helping build educational programs that strengthen the Kempner community.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop curriculum, teaching materials, and digital learning resources across neuroscience, AI, and related fields
- Teach, support, and coordinate mini-courses and the Workshops @ Kempner series
- Translate complex scientific concepts and tools into clear, effective educational content
- Create learning modules, videos, exercises, and assessments for community learners of all levels
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and align content with institutional goals
- Manage workshop logistics and evaluate programs for continuous improvement
- Support community-building and professional development initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree (required) or PhD (strongly preferred) in neuroscience, computer science, cognitive science, statistics, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or higher education support
- Experience developing educational materials in academic or research settings
- Strong communication, organization, and project management skills
- Knowledge of instructional design, assessment, and inclusive teaching practices
- Experience working with faculty to develop courses, especially in computational or online environments
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and digital learning tools
Position Details
- This is a less-than-halftime position, candidates may work up to 17.5 hours/week
- This is a hybrid position, some onsite work will be required.
- Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship for this position is not available.
- This is a paid position. The expected hourly rate for candidates holding a master’s degree is $41 per hour and $50 per hour for candidates holding a doctoral degree. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- LHTs are not eligible for benefits, but they may be eligible for sick time and enrollment in the Harvard Tax-Deferred Account (TDA) retirement plan.

This is an exempt Less-than-Halftime (LHT) position. Per university policy, LHT employees may work up to 17.5 total hours/week for as long as needed, however they may not hold more than one paid appointment at a time University-wide unless the total combined hours do not exceed 17.5 hours per week.
