AboutPatrick Slade is an Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at Harvard University. He received his bachelors at UIUC and completed MSc, PhD, and postdoctoral studies in Mechanical Engineering and Bioengineering at Stanford University. Slade was an NSF Graduate Research Fellow, named a Forbes 30 under 30 in healthcare, and has published in journals like Nature and Science Robotics.

Research FocusThe Slade Lab combines biomechanics and human-centered AI to understand and improve mobility. Slade’s research focuses on uncovering the causal links between cognition and motor control using neuroscience studies of human movement and developing novel AI techniques that encapsulate this neural and biomechanical behavior. He leverages these AI models, informed by natural intelligence, to understand movement, improve rehabilitation, and augment mobility with assistive devices. He prioritizes solutions that are open-source and low-cost to make care accessible for underserved populations.
